This month’s stamp set has a Valentine feel to it and if you follow my blog you know that our family doesn’t go to great lengths to celebrate this holiday. I stewed and stewed over how I could use this stamp set…..BUT THEN I was cleaning out the closet in our office and came across a box. I was completely blown away when I opened it….Imagine my surprise when I opened the box and found all of the lovey-dovey cards that my husband and I exchanged while we were dating. I had completely forgotten that we had exchanged these cards over a decade ago. Reading the notes that we left to each other inside the cards brought a huge smile to my face!! I had decided in December 2014 that I wanted to create a My Crush™ book for the odds and ends of 2015 and this was the perfect first entry!

CTMH: My Crush

I picked a page out in My Crush™ Modville Book and grabbed a few B&T Duos™ from the Heartstrings Paper Packet. Then I created a file folder {cut at 6¼”} using the Artiste Cricut® Cartridge to hold the cards. Using January’s Stamp Of The Month, This Moment  in Whisper Exclusive Ink™ & second generation Hollyhock Exclusive Ink™, I stamped the “Love Notes” & feather arrow on the file folder.

CTMH: My Crush

CTMH: My Crush

I’m not a huge fan of my handwriting, but think journaling is SO  important! So I used a Heartstrings Picture My Life™ journaling card to jot down the info about these cards! I wanted the file folder to be easily accessible {especially since my journaling is on the inside} so I added Hook & Loop Dots {velcro dots} to hold the folder together. I added another Heartstrings PML card, stitching, and a few Stuck On You Puffy Stickers to the page for a little extra charm.

CTMH: My Crush

I loved the quote on the following page and didn’t want to cover it so I just wanted to add a few embellishments around it. I again used January’s SOTM and Whisper Exclusive Ink™ & Hollyhock Exclusive Ink™ for the stamping. At the base of the quote I added Lagoon Hearts Washi Tape, a Base & Bling arrow from the Signature Charms Assortment , and a badge button from the Heartstrings Assortment. The badge button has so much dimension I decided to add dimension to the “straight from the heart” sentiment using Thin 3D Foam Tape. {←I just purchased this in my last order & I L.O.V.E. it! It’s a new FAVE!} I also added a glittery heart from the Stuck On You Puffy Stickers.

CTMH: My Crush

I found so many cards that I decided I needed to create an extra pocket that I will place on the inside of the back cover when this book is complete. To create this I used a SMASHbook brand pocket folders and decorated the front using the Heartstrings Complements.

First, let me start by giving you the basics of the Artfully Sent Collection. This collection includes the Artfully Sent Cricut® cartridge, three D-size stamp sets {$17.95 value x3!!!} that coordinate with cuts on the cartridge, and a pack of 12″ × 12″ White Daisy cardstock.  With the Artfully Sent cartridge you can create 250 artistic cards and 150 small projects. That means you can creates 400 unique projects from the 700 images on this cartridge!!! There are multiple styles of cards that can be made using this cartridge including  pop-up, sleeve, pocket, swing, and tri-panel cards. It truly is full of everything you need to make beautiful cards!!

The card I chose to make was a thank you card. {Seriously, I sat and looked at the booklet for almost a half hour! There are so many great cards on this cartridge I couldn’t decide what to make!!} I started by cutting the card base twice; once in White Daisy Cardstock and then an exact repeat using a B&T Duo™ from the Seaside Paper Packet. After they were cut I directly layered them on top of each other. {By using cardstock along with a B&T Duo™ it reinforces your card; making it more sturdy}

CTMH: Artfully Sent

Once I had them layered together I grabbed a scrap piece of White Daisy Cardstock and the Have A Happy Day Stamp Set. Using multiple ink colors {Glacier Exclusive Ink™; Desert Sand Exclusive Ink™; Whisper Exclusive Ink™; Thistle Exclusive Ink™; Canary Exclusive Ink™; Flaxen Exclusive Ink™} I stamped and fussy cut a majority of the images. Before adhering the White Daisy Cardstock to my card base I used an Edge Distresser to create the roughened edges.

CTMH: Artfully Sent

Now onto the embellishments! I added Brown & Tan Sparkles and an arrow from the Signature Charms Base & Bling Set. I also added stitching along the edge of the card. It adds so much flair to a card or any papercrafting project!!

I have a few more projects featuring the Artfully Sent cartridge that will be posted very soon so I hope you will come back to view those projects {hint, hint: You can make more than just cards with this fun cartridge}!! Remembering Warmer Days

I’m kicking off 2014 with a scrapbook layout and a 3D project.

CTMH: Sarita~ Created by Kelly Janes {CTMH Independent Consultant}

This scrapbook page was made using the Sarita Paper Packet*. I started with a Desert Sand Cardstock base, adding a layer of Outdoor Denim Cardstock, and then a layer of Sarita B&T paper. The B&T paper used on this page are once again cut from the SAME SHEET of paper since Close To My Heart’s B&T Duo®’s are double sided. Finally, I added my two photos {from our January 2012 cruise…. proving I am WAAAAY BEHIND ON MY SCRAPBOOKS!} matted in Colonial White Cardstock.

 I started next with the embellishments {which in my opinion are the most important part of any scrapbook page}. You may notice first that there are Aqua Dots randomly placed around the page, and I added Slate Striped Twist Ties above and below the photos. I also added a pennant of Sarita B&T paper in the upper right hand corner of the page with a layer of Lagoon Houndstooth Washi Tape {LOOOOVVVEEE Washi Tape} and a word charm from the Base & Bling Word Accents {which is on the Retiring Items List} . The title of this scrapbook page was cut in Lagoon Cardstock and Outdoor Denim Cardstock using the Artbooking Cricut® Cartridge and CCR to weld the letters together. {Scrapbook page inspired by this sketch}

CTMH: #projectaday 3D

The next project was made using the Chantilly Paper Packet {retired} and the paper gets it shape from the Artiste Cricut® Cartridge. This 3D card holder may look familiar from a previous blog post…If you missed that blog post you can view it by clicking here.

CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE LIST OF RETIRING ITEMS. ALL OF THESE ITEMS ARE NOW WHILE SUPPLIES LAST ONLY!!

Scrapbooking is my first papercrafting love so this club was a lot of fun for me! I love making cards, but I love the memories that are involved in scrapbooking. Just looking at these pictures and remembering the fun that we had on this cruise…I love being able to capture that on paper!

-Kelly

{*Note: All the paper used to make the scrapbook page is included in the Sarita Paper Packet except for the Desert Sand Cardstock}

Base & Bling

When you hear of Close To My Heart’s products most people’s minds automatically go to paper crafting products, but with the current Fall/Winter 2013 Idea Book CTMH has really branched out to new products.

Including a Base & Bling Jewelry line!! They offer a necklace kit and also individual pieces such as bracelets, rings, headbands, hair clips, and necklaces!  The jewels and accents for this line come in a large variety of colors and are very versatile. They can be used on all papercrafting projects including cards, scrapbook pages and the NEW Crush Albums.

 This is a sample of a card using a floral accent in the Base & Bling line.

The flower on this card is from the Base & Bling Floral Accents collection {while supplies last}. I just added white acrylic paint to alter the color to match the theme of my card. This card also got a “shout out” on the Retro Sketches Challenge Blog!! I was so excited!!! Totally made my day! Check it out here!!

I also recently purchased the Base & Bling Fabric Necklace Kit* {while supplies last}, and here is the finished product.

This necklace kit uses the Sarita Textiles (fabric), but CTMH offers a variety of textiles so you can make the jewelry match any outfit. Click here to check out the available textiles and fabric designs. {hint, hint…the Spring/Summer 2014 Idea Book, which will be released on 2/1/2014, contains a wider variety of textiles and more Base & Bling options!!} This necklace also works perfect for Day #10 {embellish it} on the Project A Day Challenge.

Close To My Hearts versatility and large selection of the variety of their products is one of the best things they offer. There truly is something for every type of crafter!
