Hey crafty friends!! I’m back today with a new layout that was recently shared on The Cut Shoppe Blog using the Going Geo Cut File.
I started with a light kraft cardstock base and added a wash of white acrylic paint to the background. In Cricut Design Space I enlarged the “Go” Geotag, included in the Going Geo Cut File set, to 10.5″ and cut the image on a pattern paper from the Amy Tangerine-On A Whim Collection. The white acrylic paint helps the cut file image pop off the background and to add a little more definition to the cut file I added hand stitching using hot pink embroidery floss.
After the hand stitching was complete I moved on the photo. I added a couple layers of white tissue paper and fun foam to the photo to help elevate it from the background. I tucked multiple die cuts, clear stickers, and stickers from the On A Whim sticker book around the photo for extra pops of color. I love all of the bright colors in this collection!
The title of my page is #Hustle from the On A Whim chipboard sticker sheet. After I received this sticker sheet I wasn’t sure how I would use the word ‘Hustle’. When I think of this word I think of sports related activities but I don’t have those type of photos to scrapbook. Then I remembered that I had this photo of the airport from a recent trip we went on. We were going to Vegas and had a terrible experience with the airline! Our flight was cancelled as we were walking out the door to head to the airport and we couldn’t find another flight out from the original airport because, like us, everyone on the cancelled flight was looking for another flight out. We ended up finding seats at a different airport but had to HUSTLE to make it there on time. We arrived at the gate as the plane was boarding, but we made it! This photo was actually taken after we had returned home because I didn’t have one second to snap a photo as we were running into the airport to try to make our outgoing flight! This memory is actually one that stands out the most in my head from this vacation so it is fitting that it will be the opening page to our Vegas scrapbook.
I added the journaling using my We R Memory Keepers Typecast Typewriter, cut the journaling into strips, and added it directly under my photo. I finished the layout by adding splatters of Hot Pink Heidi Swapp Color Shine.
I’ve also put together a process video showing how this layout came together!
Thank you so much for joining me today and remember to head over to The Cut Shoppe Etsy Store to check out all of the cut files!
Hey friends! I’m back with a new layout for Hip Kit Club using the February 2017 Kits.
This week we are doing something a little bit different in the Hip Kit Club Facebook Forum. Instead of a sketch we are scraplifting this layout from the talented Bea Valint. For my layout, I started by cutting one of the January 2017 cut files on a patterned paper from the Maggie Holmes-Chasing Dreams Collection, which is included in the Main Kit. I then placed the cut file onto a sheet of American Crafts Peacock textured cardstock from the Cardstock Kit. I am in LOVE with the color of this cardstock!! I also added machine stitching around the border of the heart cut file to secure it to the page and to add a little more texture.
I then moved to my photo. I debated on adding a white border around the photo with white cardstock, but I wasn’t planning on adding any other white elements to the page so I opted to add a couple layers of vellum instead. I then grabbed multiple florals from the Maggie Holmes-Chasing Dreams ephemera pack (from the Main Kit) and arranged them to the left of the photo. This Chasing Dreams Collection is gorgeous and I had to use one of the chipboard stickers (included in Main Kit) along the bottom of the photo. I love how the shape of the chipboard sticker frames the photo!
I then wanted to add a cluster to the top right to help balance the weight of the design. I used a bird ephemera piece from the Chasing Dreams ephemera pack and another one of the Chasing Dreams chipboard sentiment stickers. I then added my journaling to the bottom right. I am so happy with how this layout came together! It’s whimsical which is exactly what I was going for and it actually came together rather quickly! Using a large cut file image is a great trick to make a fast page!!
I’ve put together a YouTube process video that also includes a Cricut Design Space tutorial. In this tutorial I show you how to upload the HKC cut files into DS. Make sure you head over to check out the cut files! New cut files are released each month! There are HKC subscriber exclusives but there are also beautiful freebies available! You have to have a HKC account to view the cut files, but it is free to create an account and no purchase is necessary! You have nothing to lose so head over to check out the beautiful designs!
This will be my last post as a HKC Design Team member for this term! I’ve so enjoyed my time with this team and am so thankful for the new friendships I’ve made!
