Hey friends! I’m so excited to be joining the Altenew September 2019 Stamp/Die/Stencil New Release Blog Hop. If you started the hop at the beginning then you would have come from Kelly Griglione’s Blog. If you’re starting here…WELCOME! You can make your way around the entire hop by clicking the link at the bottom of my post.
I created two layouts today with a few of the stamps and dies. For my first layout I used the Birch Impressionism and the Flower Garden Stamp Set. I started the layout by stamping the flowers and leaves from the Flower Garden Stamp Set on a piece of scrap white cardstock. I used multiple Distress Inks & Distress Oxides to color the flowers and leaves. I applied clear gesso to the paper before I added the watercolor to help the colors blend. I then fussy cut these images to use on my layout.
I loved the lines of the Birch Impressionism Stamp Set and knew I wanted to use them as horizontal lines. I did not layer the the images as they are intended; I just stamped them with black ink and tore the strips randomly. I then grabbed another piece of white cardstock and started assembling my layout.
I literally happened to tossed down the horizontal strips from the Birch Impressionism Stamp Set after I cut them apart and loved the position. I loved that they were messy and askew. I adhered down the strips and then added the blue Pool My Close Shimmerz Paint to my background. I then adhered the flowers from the Flower Garden Stamp Set and moved onto embellishing and selecting my photos.
I still at this point wasn’t sure what photo I wanted to use for my layout. I was so caught up in the fun of painting the flowers and tearing the strips that they thought didn’t occur to me until I already had everything adhered down. I went through my camera roll and came across these photos of a sunset and thought they matched the colors perfectly. I printed the photos in two different sizes and layered them together.
I wasn’t sure what to do for my title but I thought black alphas would look great. I grabbed both sets of black alphas (from the Reflection Scrapbook Collection and the Live Your Dream Scrapbook Collection). I was auditioning them both on the layout and loved how they looked combined together. I spelled out the word “Sunset” and decided to fussy cut the word” This” from a sticker that is included in the Reflection Scrapbook Collection. I also added a few chipboard and cardstock stickers from Reflection Scrapbook Collection. I also added a scattering of chipboard hearts from the Live Your Dream Scrapbook Collection; along with a sprinkling of enamel dots.
Now you can see how it came together in my process video:
For my second layout I used the Faceted Stars Stamp Set and the Tall Alpha Die Set.
I started by stamping the Faceted Stars Stamp Set using embossing ink and added white embossing powder. I heat set the powder and then used my Distress Oxide Inks to create a color background. I tore the background down the center and applied it to another piece of white cardstock.
I then die cut the letters from the Tall Alpha Die Set using a pink and blue patterned paper from the Reflection Scrapbook Collection along with a piece of vellum from my stash. I scattered those letters down the background in a random fashion to create texture and visual interest on the layout.
I grabbed a few die cuts from the Live Your Dream Scrapbook Collection, wood veneer buttons and wood veneer animal shapes from the Reflection Scrapbook Collection, and acetate circle shapes to embellish the layout. The photos I added are from a zoo trip a couple years ago so I thought the wood veneer animals were the perfect addition! I printed my photos in two sizes and added a layer of tissue paper to the small photo before stapling the two photos together. I like the visual interest this adds to the layout!
