AHSC #122

AHSC122

I’m officially in fall mode and craving all things pumpkin! The weather is cooler here this week and I’m feeling like autumn is settling in so it was a perfect theme to go along with this week’s sketch at AHSC!

CTMH: Lifetime of Happiness

I started with a layer of Autumn Terracotta Cardstock and added a layer of Colonial White Cardstock. All of the stamped images are from the Lifetime Of Happiness Stamp Set using Black, Glacier, Smokey Plum, and Olive Exclusive Inks™. I added a few Gold Sequins and wanted to add some gold bling but didn’t have any gold sparkles. I grabbed my ShinHan™ Touch Twin™ Golden Yellow Marker and colored the Bitty Sparkles to give them a golden hue. To finish things off I added a bow of Autumn Terracotta Baker’s Twine.

How will you interpret this week’s sketch?!? Head over to Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge to enter!

He is…

I have another Bible Journaling entry today!! If you missed my first post you can find it here.

This page started out well and according to plan by painting the margin with cheap watercolors from Michael’s. I then mainly used CTMH alphabet stamps, stamps from the Illustrated Faith Etsy Store & also stamps from Big Picture Classes for the writing in the margins. Then came the part that didn’t turn out as expected, I tried placing cloud rub-ons & stamping rain drops on the right of the page…well the rub-ons didn’t stick to the Bible pages so I tried stamping clouds and stapling them to the page to cover up the mess but I didn’t like that look either. So I used Gesso to cover what was remaining of the rub-ons & rain drops and added acrylic paint. I always try to leave the paint thin, but the paint was a little thicker than I’d like in a few areas. When my perfectionism kicks in, I remind myself what is really important → what the message says, how the Word is alive and speaking to me!

Psalm 34:1-7

I will bless the Lord at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
 My soul makes its boast in the Lord;
    let the humble hear and be glad.
 Oh, magnify the Lord with me,
and let us exalt his name together!

I sought the Lord, and he answered me
    and delivered me from all my fears.
 Those who look to him are radiant,
    and their faces shall never be ashamed.
This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him
    and saved him out of all his troubles.
 The angel of the Lord encamps
    around those who fear him, and delivers them.

34:17-18
 When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears
    and delivers them out of all their troubles.
 The Lord is near to the brokenhearted
    and saves the crushed in spirit.

We all face adversity. It hits us from all angles and sometimes can come from places where we least expect it. When we face that adversity-where do we turn? Do we turn to ourselves and let our flesh emotions take control? Do we turn to others for comfort? I take major comfort in knowing that God knows my heart and hears my cries. That He will rescue me ALWAYS! He is strength in my weakness, my hope, my defender, my protector, my provider, my guide ← seriously, this list could literally go on FOREVER! He knows my heart, He knows my pain, and He loves me even when I am most undeserving! Knowing these things gives me peace in the face of adversity. Knowing these things allows me to know that the pain, while it is very real, is also very temporary. I am so grateful to know these truths!
