Family | Altenew Guest Designer

Hi everyone! I’m SO EXCITED to share with you all that I was asked to be a guest designer on the Altenew Scrapbook Blog in June! I can’t even begin to tell you how thrilled and honored I am to have been asked by Altenew! I love their products and it was a pleasure to create three projects this month. I will be sharing all three layouts with you over the next week.

Altenew - Watercolor Doodles Stamp Set - Live Your Dream - Our Family - Kelly Janes

For my first layout I started with the Watercolor Doodles Stamp Set. I stamped a random background on a scrap piece of white cardstock using Black, Green, Purple, Cyan and Pink Inks. I love that this stamp set is meant to look abstract so you don’t need to worry about perfectly lining up the stamp set each time. After I had the stamping complete I cut the scrap piece of paper into triangles. I used a pink mist from my stash to add a splash of color on the background and positioned the triangles in the center of the layout. I machined stitched each of those triangles onto the background to be sure they were secure.

I then moved onto embellishing. My color scheme was based off the Altenew Our Family Scrapbook Collection, so I grabbed one of the Chipboard Words as my title. I also grabbed a few chipboard banners from the Live Your Dream Scrapbook Collection and a blue chipboard leaf from the same Chipboard Sheet. The other leaves on the layout are Stickers from the Our Family Scrapbook Collection. The Watercolor Butterfly Stickers were the perfect addition to the layout!

My photos are four photos that were taken when my dad was showing my son how to drive a riding lawn mower. This seems to be turning into a family tradition…my dad taught me and now my son. I added this journaling using my We R Memory Keepers Typecast Typewriter and a few enamel dots for the final touch!

Enjoy the Journey | Wild Hare Kits

Hey friends! I’m the guest designer at Wild Hare Kits this month and I have a project to share with you today using the hand-curated kit that I was sent. You can view the unboxing video of my kit HERE.

I started with a white cardstock base and fussy cut numerous tickets from the Pinkfresh Studio Tickets Patterned Paper from the Out & About Collection. I adhered those fussy cut tickets in the center of the layout.

I also cut strips of paper (roughly 2¼″ each) from the Tickets & Explore Patterned Paper from Out & About and the Love Warrior Patterned Paper from the Dear Lizzy New Day Collection. I never would have thought to mix papers from the Dear Lizzy Collection and the Out & About Collection! This is the great thing about receiving a kit! It takes the guess work out of combining products from different manufacturers! I used my score board to create a crease in the center of each of the strips and folded the papers before adhering them down. I also roughed up the edges of the patterned paper strips using an Edge Distressor.

I took Puffy Stickers from the Out & About Collection along with enamel dots and embellishments from the Mixed Embellishment Pack to embellish the layout. I used one of the larger Die Cuts from Out & About for my title. I also added a bit of stitching through the fussy cut tickets for added texture.

I added my photo and added my jounaling under the photo. This pic was taken of a few of my work friends when we went to Los Angeles for a work conference. We were on the subway and it happened to be my first subway experience. It was awful! HA! The urine smell on the platform was UNBELIEVABLE!
