Sweet | Hip Kit Club

Hello friends! I’m back with a new layout for Hip Kit Club using the December 2016 Hip Kits. This kit is full of so many wonderful paper and embellishments. The options really are limitless. You could create bold colorful layouts or soft subtle layouts, which is what I have done for my most recent layout using the December Kits.

I started with a white cardstock base and then added an exclusive Hip Kit Club pattern paper from the Main Kit. I used one of the member exclusive cut files on white cardstock to create a frame or a border for my photos and embellishments. {Remember you need to be logged into your account to view the cut files on the HKC website} This cut file is just so intricate and gorgeous!! My photos were taken at a wedding a few years ago, and I LOVE how the papers, embellishments, and cut file just fit the theme of these photos!!

After I placed the cut file image on the pattern paper I felt as if the pattern paper was a little too bold. By placing the vellum over the patter paper it helps mute the pattern without taking away any of the detail or design.

I then placed my photos in the center of the cut file image. I grabbed multiple ephemera pieces from the Pink Paislee-Paige Evans-Take Me Away Collection, which is available in the Main Kit and tucked the die cuts next the photos. I wanted to keep balance to the design so I mirrored the ephemera pieces to be sure to maintain balance in the design.

For my title I used one of the gold mirrored acrylic stickers from My Mind’s Eye- Yes Please Collection that is available in the Embellishment Kit. I also added clusters of the exclusive gold acrylic stars and one of the Pink Paislee Take Me Away epoxy paper clips, from the Project Life Kit, for added detail. This all came together rather quickly! I just love the feel and tone of this layout.

I’ve also put together a YouTube video showing how this layout came together!

This layout is based off of sketch #7 from our HKC Facebook Forum sketch series. Head over to the Forum to check out the sketch and what the other Design Team members created!

Hello 2017 | Blog Hops with Heart

Hey crafty friends! This month I’m participating in the Blog Hops with Heart-Sparkling New Year Blog Hop. You may have come from Shelly’s Blog, but you can make your way around the entire hop by clicking the link at the bottom of my post. For my layout today I took the theme very literal. Lots of glitter, shiny gold accents, and a New Years theme!

I used a blue pattern paper from the Pink Paislee-Moonstruck Collection as my background, and I added a layer of white gesso to prep the page for my mixed media. I used the packaging technique with two Shimmerz Mists, Jeni B Bleu Vibez and Well Blue Me Down Coloringz, to add a little interest to the background.

To add a little “sparkle” to my layout I used the FREE May Mash-Up Cut File from The Cut Shoppe on a sheet of gold glitter cardstock. I then grabbed my 2 photos and used multiple ephemera pieces from the Moonstruck Collection as layering pieces behind the photos. These photos were taken this year on New Year’s Eve. They are very similar, but Aidan always asks if we can take a ‘silly’ photo after I’ve taken the first official smiling photo. I love his funny personality and the photo just captures who he is at this age.

I used gold mirrored acrylic stickers for my title from the My Mind’s Eye-Yes Please Collection. For added detail and final touches I added gold splatters using Heidi Swapp Gold Color Shine and a few gold acrylic circles from the same MME sticker sheet.

I also recorded a YouTube video that shows the process of how this layout came together.

I was the last stop on the hop this month, but you can start over or view the entire list of participants by heading to Amie’s Blog. Thank you so much for joining us on the blog hop this month and I hope you’ve found a lot of inspiration along the way!
