Halloween In January?

You may remember a previous layout I shared that was inspired by the Old Favorites with a New Twist Class taught by Ashley Horton. This class is offered through Big Picture Classes and gives a fresh perspective on scrapbooking techniques of years past.  One of those techniques is shaped photos and Ashley generously offers a free hexagon cut file in the class. (You can click here to view my original blog post that includes multiple photos of the first layout I created.) In that original blog post I shared a peek of a second layout I created using the same cut file. Well I’m back today with the full layout! One of the great things about scrapbooking is you can scrapbook the photos of your choosing any time of the year…hence the Halloween layout in January! ha!

I tend to hoard my paper and all my scraps so I’m unsure of the pattern paper labels on this layout because the manufacturer strips were already removed from previous projects. I did stamp the stars on the background paper using CTMH Black Exclusive Ink™ and the Tasty Terrors Stamp Set. The embellishments were mainly from the Crate Paper-After Dark Collection and K&Company pieces that I’ve had in my stash for A LONG time! I did throw in some CTMH black enamel stars also.

Here’s a close up that shows a little more dimension of the embellishments and the machine stitching around the cut file.

AHSC #140

I’m back again with another sketch from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge! I think my creative mojo has disappeared with the busyness of the holiday season! I’ve been on a scrapbooking kick lately and for some reason cards have just been really tricky for me these past few sketch challenges. But I’m not one to back away from a papercrafting challenge so I went into my craft room and this is what I came up with.

For my card, I started with a white cardstock base and added a layer of light pink paper from my stash. Before adhering the pink paper to the card base, I ran it through my Big Shot using a Lifestyle Crafts dry embossing folder. With the magic of Design Space and the attaching/slicing feature I was able to use a couple CTMH Cricut® cartridges to create the tag for my card. The actual tag is from the CTMH Artbooking Cricut® Cartridge and is cut on the same cardstock as the base of my card. Before I cut the tag I strategically placed 3 strips of washi where the “hi” sentiment, from the CTMH Artfully Sent Cricut® Cartridge, would cut. I then backed the sentiment with a small piece of Black Glitter Paper. Next I messy splattered a little Heidi Swapp Black Color Shine and added baker’s twine to the hole on the tag. Once the tag was adhered I added a few Flamingo Dots for the final touches.
