Hello Love | The Cut Shoppe

Hi friends! I’m back with a new layout that was recently share on The Cut Shoppe Blog using the April Showers Cut File.

I knew I wanted to create a grid design and I wanted to use Cricut Design Space to help create the lines. I positioned 3 vertical score lines at the 2″, 6″ & 10″ lines on the design screen. I then inserted another score line and placed it horizontally at the 6″ line. Once I had the score lines positioned on the design screen I used the “attach” feature to hold all of the score lines together and in place. By using score lines in Cricut Design Space it ensures that my grid lines will be perfectly straight. I then sliced out the two cloud images from the April Showers Cut File and appropriately sized them within the grid lines.

After the images were cut and scored, I used a paper piercer to poke holes in the background patterned paper, which is from the Shimelle Little By Little Collection. I then hand stitched the grid onto the patterned paper using white embroidery floss. I cut the clouds in both patterned paper, from the same Little By Little Collection, and also white cardstock. I layered and slightly offset the patterned paper from the white cardstock to create a shadow. I then stacked and adhered the remaining cut file images to create depth and dimension.

Then came time to embellish. I used multiple die cuts from the Shimelle Little By Little Collection and also a scallop puffy sticker from the Pink Paislee Oh My Heart Collection designed by Paige Evans. I know this cut file has a very spring feel to it, but when I first saw this cut file I immediately thought BABY! I love how all of the die cut clusters fit so well within the grid lines and the overall color scheme is just perfect for a baby themed layout.

This photo is taken of Aidan and my newest little nephew, Elijah. I mean, seriously, how cute are these boys?! I’ll admit and would never deny being a baby hog, but Aidan held him more than I did! If you’ve followed my blog, YouTube Channel or Instagram for any length of time I’m sure you know that Aidan is an only child. But seeing him with this sweet little baby and seeing on his face how much he adored this little one made me realize what a great big brother he would have been! It did make my heart pitter patter for just a moment, but I truly do feel blessed with my perfect family of three!

Elevator Usie | The Cut Shoppe

Hey friends! I’m back to share a layout that was recently on The Cut Shoppe Blog using the Brush Up Alpha Cut File and the Selfies & Usies Cut File.

I started in Cricut Design Space by slicing out the individual letters from the Brush Up Alpha Cut File. I cut each letter for the word ‘Elevator’ four times and then stacked them together to create dimension. I repeated the same steps for the word ‘Usie’ from the Selfies & Usies Cut File. Now I have to admit that I didn’t even realize the word ‘usie’ was a thing! I looked up the word ‘usie’ to be sure I was using it properly, and sure enough, any photo that has 2 or more people is an usie. I always thought that these types of photos fell into the ‘selfie’ category! Who knew?!

I also cut a large circle in Cricut Design Space on a piece of purple cardstock and backed the circle with a patterned paper from the Pink Paislee Oh My Heart Collection designed by Paige Evans. I then placed my title on the layout. I had originally planned on using the same purple cardstock for my title, but loved how the white cardstock just popped off the page!

Next I started working on my photo cluster. I used multiple die cuts from the Pink Paislee Oh My Heart Collection designed by Paige Evans. My photo is an usie taken in an elevator from our trip to Chicago last summer. Thankfully my family plays along with my incessant need to take photos! Ha!

I also tucked die cuts from the Oh My Heart Collection along the edge of the circle. I also added a few chipboard pieces from the Thickers sheet and a washi strip from the Oh My Heart sticker book. I added my journaling to my page using my We R Memory Keepers Typecast Typewriter. To help the layout look more complete I added hand stitching using white embroidery floss around the perimeter of the circle.
