34 | Pretty Little Studio

Hey there friends! During the months of April & May I was a Guest Designer for Pretty Little Studio, and I created projects using the XOXO Collection designed by Hello Heather. I’m now going to share those projects here over the next 8 weeks, so today I have my first layout to share with you that I created.

I started with a white cardstock background that already had my journaling printed on the right hand side. I then added a wash of light blue acrylic paint. I positioned the Cross My Heart Patterned Paper and the same design in vellum over the jounaling. I then stitched down the very edge of the patterned paper and vellum to create a flap. I’ve recently turned 34 and this layout is all about my goals for this year. I don’t mind if people read the journaling, but I didn’t want it to be on the forefront of the layout. I also had much more to say than I usually do, so hiding it under the flap was the perfect solution.

I then adhered my photos to the layout-all while keeping in mind that I need to be able to flip this layer up in order to see the journaling hidden underneath. Speaking about the photos, this is only the second time I’ve ever taken a selfie! The first time was a few years ago and I just snapped a quick selfie to text my husband a picture of my haircut. This is also the first time I’ve ever scrapbooked a photo just about me. To be honest, I feel a little vulnerable putting this out there for the world to see!

I added a journaling tag behind one of the photos as a layer, a scattering of a few teal hearts and I also added a flair button. I also positioned multiple Floral Die Cuts by the photo and also peeking out from behind the layers. I felt like the layout needed a bit more texture so I stitched down the white cardstock on the left side of the paper layers. The title “34” was cut using my Cricut on one of the patterned papers included in the 8×8 Paper Pad.

Hello Spring | The Cut Shoppe

Hi friends! I’m back with you today to share a new layout that was recently on The Cut Shoppe Blog using the Up & Down Background Cut File & the Spring Fever Cut File.

I cut the Up & Down Background Cut File on white cardstock and then stamped the cardstock with the stamp set from the Pinkfresh Studio Dream On Collection. I made sure to use an archival ink because I wanted to add watercolor to the stamped images.

After the watercolor was dry I started embellishing my layout. I positioned my photo along with patterned papers & the embellishments from the Pinkfresh Studio Felicity Collection and butterflies from Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams Collection,

This is just a photo of me lounging in our hammock on a warm Spring day. I don’t know how you feel, but I feel like this was the LONGEST WINTER EVER! I’m normally a fan of cold, rainy days, but this year I think I’m going to soak up as much sunshine as I can get. Or at least until it gets too hot! HA!

My title is cut in bright pink cardstock using the Spring Fever Cut File. I then started adhering everything to the yellow cardstock background. I used a lot of fun foam and pop dots on both of the cut file images to add depth and shadows. I added my journaling using the We R Memory Keepers Typecast Typewriter and cut it into 3 strips.

Now you can take a look at how my process video to see how this layout came together.

I love the bright Spring colors on this layout and am really happy with how it turned out! Remember to head to The Cut Shoppe Etsy Store to check out all of the cut files! Thank you so much for spending part of your day with me!
