Die Cut Blog Hop

Welcome to the Blog Hops with Heart Blog Hop. You may have come from Amie Kiger’s blog, but if you’ve started here that is perfect too!! Our hop is a circle so you can make your way around by clicking the link at the bottom of my post. And you’re going to want to make it all the way through!

Die Cut Blog Hop

This month’s hop is die cut themed. There are so many ways to implement die cuts…from your Big Shot, Cricut, Cameo, etc. Recently I’ve found a new addiction….Cut Files! If you are not familiar with cut files, they are PNG, SVG, etc images that can be uploaded into a Silhouette or Cricut Explore. I am a Cricut user, I have been since the very first Cricut came out!

Today for my die cut, I used The Places You’ll Go Cut File from The Cut Shoppe. I’ve been on a cruise scrapbooking kick lately and I used this cut file with an older Dear Lizzy Collection-5th & Frolic. I love how the globe just fit the theme of this layout perfectly! I used an American Crafts white textured cardstock as my base and added a layer of clear gesso. I had originally wanted to use a blue shade of paint within the center of the cut file to create the illusion of water but couldn’t find a color that matched. So I ended up using Golden Wheat Shimmerz Paint that matches beautifully with the yellow that I used in the patterned papers. I added a zigzag stitch around the entire circumference of the globe and tucked my photo in the bottom right hand corner.

I created a photo cluster using a yellow paper from the Crate Paper-Maggie Holmes-Confetti Collection, along with a Project Life card from the Hip Kit Club, a small doily, followed by a layer of vellum. This photo already had a white mat because I had previously scrapbooked this photo, but didn’t like the design of the layout.

Once I had my photo cluster created I moved on to embellishing.  I had went through a stage where I opened all of my ephemera and organized it all by color. My thought process was if they were no longer in the packaging and out in the open I might use them, but it backfired! haha! I find myself not looking through the containers because there is so much of it that it overwhelms me. BUT I decided I need to use up my stash so I sorted through the containers. I believe the chipboard floral pieces are from Dear Lizzy. I also added in a zig-zag chipboard piece & a flair button at the bottom of my photo cluster from the Dear Lizzy-Lucky Charm Collection. I positioned the Heidi Swapp title “Adventure” directly on top of the photo. I also added a few Heidi Swapp gold glitter hearts, a few Dear Lizzy chipboard chevrons from the Lucky Charm Collection, a Heidi Swapp gold glitter arrow. I added my journaling, date stamp, and Black Heidi Shine. Layout complete!

Here is a process video that shows how it all came together!!

Now head over to Becca Whitham’s blog! I have no doubt what she has created is inspiring and absolutely beautiful!

Ooh La La!!

Today the layout I’m sharing is from our 2012 cruise and I used a fun mix of papers and embellishments!
Let’s jump right in…

Ooh La La Scrapbooking Layout-Crate Paper, Pink Paislee, My Mind's Eye

I’m starting with a small polka dot print pattern paper from the Pink Paislee-C’est La Vie Collection. Then I grabbed a couple more pattern papers from the same Pink Paislee C’est la vie collection, CTMH Whisper Cardstock, a doily, and a layer of vellum for my photo mat. I also fussy cut a few flowers from a pattern paper from the Maggie Holmes-Shine Collection and tucked them under my photo cluster.

The photo cluster is positioned on the left side of the layout and I added a large cluster of embellishments to the right of the photo. The embellishment cluster come from a wide variety of paper collections including the Pink Paislee-C’est La Vie ephemera pack, tags from the Crate Paper-Hello Love Collection, stickers from the My Mind’s Eye-My Story Sticker Sheet. The title for the layout are gold mirror words from the C’est La Vie Collection also!

I added gold and white stitching around the polka dot base paper and matted it onto a piece of CTMH Black Cardstock. I added a few Simple Stories-Carpe Diem enamel dots and Black Heidi Swapp Color Shine….sometimes that color shine has a mind of it’s own! Ha! My splattering got a little out of control and at first I was a little disappointed with how it fell on the page. I kept adding more trying to correct it and I think that may have been a mistake, but eh! The layout is done! I’m planning on typing all of my journaling for our cruise album so I will add that a bit later!

I have another process video to share with this layout! As I had mentioned in a previous post, my camera had stopped working and I just ordered a new! Well I’m still toying with the settings so I apologize that the colors are not super crisp on this video! It’s still a work in progress!!
