Kaboom!

Both cards today feature CTMH’s June’s Stamp Of The Month, Kaboom!

Card #1

CTMH: June SOTM Kaboom

 I started by inking up the two smaller firework images in CTMH’s  Lagoon Exclusive Ink™, Creme Brulee Exclusive Ink™, Juniper Exclusive Ink™, and Honey Exclusive Ink™  by using the rock ‘n roll technique on piece of  CTMH White Daisy Cardstock. {If you’re not familiar with this technique-you stamp the image in the lighter color ink first and then roll the edges in a darker color ink. When you stamp the image it will appear to be two-tone} To keep the White Daisy Cardstock from blending in with the white card base, I used a Sponge Dauber and CTMH Outdoor Denim Exclusive Ink™ around the edge of the cardstock

I used the CTMH Keyboard Uppercase Stamp Set in Outdoor Denim Exclusive Ink™ for the happy birthday sentiment. I overlapped the letters slightly to give the appearance that the letters are connected, and I added a strips of 3D Foam Tape to have the sentiment literally pop off the card!! The little star is also from the June SOTM and is stamped in Creme Brulee Exclusive Ink™. For the finishing touch I added a couple CTMH Durables Triangle Studs.  {Card inspired by this card by Jocelyn Olson}

Card #2

CTMH: June SOTM Kaboom {inspired by Lisa Henke}

Starting with a white card base, I added a layer of CTMH Outdoor Denim Cardstock followed by another layer of White Daisy Cardstock. On the top layer of cardstock I used the CTMH  Distressed Backgrounds Stamp Set in Champagne Exclusive Ink™ followed by another firework image from June’s SOTM in Sorbet Exclusive Ink™. The tag was cut in White Daisy Cardstock using the Art Philosophy Cricut® Cartridge. I again used a sponge dauber and Outdoor Denim Exclusive Ink™ around the edges of the tag for more definition. The sentiments come from two different stamp sets; the “congratulations” sentiment and the star are from the Casual Expressions Stamp Set and the “you’re amazing” is from the Cricut® Artiste Collection. To give the tag a little texture I used the Chevron Embossing Folder and tied a bow using the Harvest Baker’s Twine at the top of the tag. {card inspired by this card by Lisa Henke}

Tip: CTMH’s dry embossing folders are 5″x7″ and have a slit cut at the top of the folder making it easy to slide your cardstock through the folder which is what I did with this tag.

Set Sail with Tommy

My husband and I went on a cruise in January 2012, and I haven’t even made a dent in my scrapbook. I took a little time this week to play around with the Tommy Paper Packet*.

CTMH: Tommy

After placing the blue B&T Duo™ {that I stitched} at the base of the cardstock, the White Daisy Cardstock seemed too bright. Using Honey Exclusive Ink™ and the My Hero Stamp Set I created a pattern on the white cardstock. The My Hero Stamp Set is one of the seven hostess exclusive stamp sets available in the Spring/Summer 2014 Idea Book.  As an added incentive to hostesses, there are now stamp sets that are exclusively available to hostesses only! And to make it even better….they are discounted!!

Onto the embellishments…..I layered a couple tags from K & Company, using a sponge dauber and Outdoor Denim Exclusive Ink™ to define the edges of the tag. The title and little birdies come from the Tommy Complements*, and the pennants are from the Tommy Assortment*. The subtitle towards the top of the page was created using the Keyboard Uppercase Stamp Set and Outdoor Denim Exclusive Ink™.

The journaling is hidden underneath the red tag. I’ll simply cut a slit in my page protector and slide the top portion of the oval through the slit for easy reading. I’m not a fan of my handwriting, but I think it is important to include it in my scrapbooks. I like the look of the typed journaling, but then I think about how special the items that have my great-grandma’s handwriting on them. I think about how disappointing it would be to see those words typed, and I’m hoping my scrapbooks will be passed down through the generations!! There is just something so personal about a handwritten message, and I hope my great-great-great grandchildren will feel the same when they are flipping through my scrapbooks.
