Hey Jack! | The Cut Shoppe

Happy Wednesday! I’m back today with a new layout for The Cut Shoppe. Today’s layout is Halloween themed. Surely I’m not the only one still scrapbooking Halloween, right?! Halloween is most definitely my favorite holiday to scrapbook and I haven’t been able to bring myself to put away my goodies just yet! For today’s layout I’m using the Ghost Town Digital Collection, the Happy Halloween Wood Veneer Set and the Tangled Web Background Cut File.

I started with a 12×12 pattern paper from the Ghost Town Digital Collection as my background. I then went through my stash to find Halloween goodies that match the photos from our last trip to Disney World when Aidan met Jack & Sally. I used a chipboard banner piece from the Crate Paper After Dark Collection, a spiderweb flower from Recollections, and a couple chipboard pumpkins from Simple Stories Frankie and Friends Collection.

I wanted to back my photos but didn’t want to use pattern paper so I cut the Tangled Web Background Cut File, sectioned it into pieces and tucked the webs behind my photo. For my title I used the ‘Hey Jack’ from the the Happy Halloween Wood Veneer Set, but I wanted to pair it with the word ‘Skellington’. I knew I would be using black alpha stickers from Elle’s Studio so I painted the ‘Hey Jack’ black with acrylic paint so it would match. I added a few other stars and the word ‘Boo’ from the same wood veneer set. I wanted to add a few extra wood veneer stars so I grabbed a few tiny stars from my Studio Calico wood veneer stash. I also used my We R Memory Keepers Typecast Typewriter to add A LOT of journaling! HA! Meeting Jack & Sally was something that was very exciting for Aidan and I wanted to be sure I documented it in detail!!

Celebrate | Hip Kit Club

Hey there crafty friends! I have a new layout to share today for Hip Kit Club using the 2016 October Kits! My theme for this week was “no white” and given that the last 2 of the 4 layouts I’ve created for Hip Kit Club haven’t had white you would think this would be easy! BUT this ended up being quite the challenge! I ALWAYS enjoy a papercrafting challenge and was determined to make this work! I think challenges really help push the creativity and I’m so happy with the end result!

The initial struggle was trying to figure out what papers and what photo I wanted to use, but once I had that narrowed down I was good to go! I chose multiple pattern papers from the Main Kit as my background. I really love how the pattern papers from Simple Stories-Posh, Maggie Holmes-Gather, and Pink Paislee Take Me Away complement each other so well. Kimberly always does an amazing job pairing multiple products from different manufacturers in the kits month after month!!

Once I had the background complete I started working on my photo mat. I used the We R Memory Keepers-Honey I’m Home cut apart sheet which is included in the Main Kit, a Project Life Card from the Project Life Kit, vellum from my stash, and the light pink American Crafts Flamingo Cardstock from the Cardstock Kit.

Once the photo mat was complete I started embellishing. I added multiple pieces from the We R Memory Keepers-Honey I’m Home ephemera pack from the Embellishment Kit, a camera from the Dear Lizzy-Saturday ephemera pack from Main Kit, and a few stickers from the WRMK-Honey I’m Home Sticker Sheet from the Project Life Kit.

Titles can be tricky and I think a lot of scrapbookers would agree with this! I decided on the word ‘Celebrate’ because Andy & I were celebrating our 11 year wedding anniversary on the day I snapped this photo. I love the shiny gold Thickers from the Embellishment Kit and they fit perfectly along one of the layers on my background! Putting the title at an angle adds a lot of visual interest to the layout!

For final touches I added a few hearts from the Simple Stories-Posh chipboard sheet from the Embellishment Kit and a sprinkling of enamel dots from the Project Life Kit. I did add journaling to this layout using my WRMK Typecast Typewriter documenting the occasion!!
