Two for One

I spent this past weekend at the Joyce Meyer Women’s Conference in St. Louis, Missouri. I traveled with a group of ladies from my church and had an amazing time. I left the conference feeling incredibly blessed and refreshed!!! Now in order to try to desperately catch myself up with the Card A Day Challenge this post is going to have two cards in one post.

Here is the first card:

This card actually started as a result of a failed attempt from a couple weeks ago. The dry embossed arrows were cut from a previous card I had made and just wasn’t quite happy with how it turned out. So being the papercrafting hoarder that I am I set it aside just in case I could find future use for it…which I did!!!

I cut out individual arrows to the desired length and adhered them to the card. (I had used a rubber brayer and Outdoor Denim Exclusive Ink® to add color to the arrows) The Kraft Cardstock hearts are actually scraps I saved from the banner I used when making the Adorable Baby Card….(once again the hoarding rears it’s ugly head!!!) I added a little bling by using Bitty Sparkles in the center of the hearts.

The sentiment is from the Card Chatter-Sympathy Stamp Set stamped in Bamboo Exclusive Ink®.

The second card was inspired by Therese Calvird and made for my mom’s birthday which we just celebrated on Sunday. My mom and I share a lot of similar interests including papercrafting meaning we get to spend a lot of time together…Which I absolutely love!

The face of the card is made using Hollyhock Cardstock. I cut a circle towards the center of the card and placed a layer of B&T Duo® paper from the Claire Paper Packet (retired). Using 3D Foam Tape I added dimension to the Hollyhock Cardstock by making it stand off the patterned paper.

The butterfly is stamped and cut using a Sizzix Stamp and Die combo on vellum paper, and heat embossed using Versamark and Stampendous embossing powder.

To add some final finishing touches to the card I added a bow using Baker’s Twine Neutral Assortment and Pink Glitter Gems from Close To My Heart.  I also used a paper piercer around the edge of the circle to add extra texture to the card.

These cards complete the 3×3 Card and the Use A Circle for the Card A Day Challenge.

Sketch Frenzy

Since I’ve entered into the challenge of making 30 cards in 30 days it really has been a “sketch frenzy” on my blog!!

Today’s sketch once again comes from Sketch Frenzy Friday, and is linked to their blog for this week’s challenge.

Here is my take on the sketch:

I started with a 5½ x 4 inch card, and added a square of Outdoor Denim Cardstock with a layer of White Daisy Cardstock. The owl (which is sooooo adorable!!!!) is cut using the Cricut Artbooking Cartridge in Kraft Cardstock and a B&T Duo® from the Chantilly Paper Packet. The tree branch {using Cocoa Cardstock} and leaves {using White Daisy Cardstock, sponge dauber, & Pear Exclusive Ink®} are also cut using the Artbooking Cartridge. The Pink Glitter Gems add a little extra BLING to the card!! (Who doesn’t love BLING?!?)

To give the layer of cardstock that the owl is sitting on a little texture I added a background stamped image using the Universal Backgrounds stamp set in Cotton Candy Exclusive Ink®. The background strip is cut in Cotton Candy Cardstock using one (of the many!!) overlay features on the Artbooking Cricut® Cartridge. (PS: I LOVE the Cricut Craft Room!!!!)

The sentiment is actually stamped using multiple sentiment stamp sets. On the face of the card: The “Happy Birthday To” is stamped using the Card Word Puzzle Stamp Set, and the “Whooo” is stamped using the Whooo Loves You Stamp Set (retired). I was having a hard time finding a question mark that fit the size of the font I was using for the sentiment,  so I ended up using an “i” stamped upside down from the Elegant Script Stamp Set (retired).

On the inside of the card: “Happy Birthday” is from one of the coordinating stamp sets from the Art Philosophy Cricut® Cartridge Collection, “To” is from the Card Word Puzzle Stamp Set, and “YOU” is from Glamour Uppercase Stamp Set.  I also added Liquid Glass to the “YOU” portion of the sentiment to give it a little something extra!!
