Shine

I have another layout to share today! This layout was inspired by Ashley Horton’s Texture Techniques Class at Big Picture Classes.

Big Picture Classes Inspiration, Hand Stitching, Shimelle-Star Shine, Crate Paper, Maggie Holmes Wonder Collection

I started with a sheet of Bazzill Mystique Cardstock and added a layer of clear gesso. After the gesso was dry I added mixed media to the cardstock using the packaging technique and No Yoking Coloringz Spray from Shimmerz Paints. I created a cut file in Cricut® Design Space, but rather than cutting it I used my pens to draw the design on the layout. I was pleasantly surprised at how well the pen drew on top of the gesso and the mixed media products!! I then used grey embroidery floss and stitched each letter. I backed the hand stitched cardstock onto a piece of dark charcoal cardstock and also added machine stitching around the border.

I then moved on to my photo cluster. I used a majority of Project Life cards from the Hip Kit Club, a doily, and a glassine bag. I even pulled out my decorative scissors (Raise your hand if you still have some of those in your stash! ha!). Then I started embellishing. I used multiple pieces from the Shimelle Starshine Collection (including the florals, chipboard stars, the butterfly, the skinny “important stuff” die cut.) I added a sticker & yellow tassel from the Crate Paper-Maggie Holmes-Wonder Collection and a globe sticker from Echo Park.

I will add journaling to this layout. I plan on typing my journaling because I’m not sure of placement. That way I can print it and then be able to move it around the page until I find the perfect spot. Whenever I type my journaling I like to wait until I have a full sheet to print so I don’t waste paper. For final touches I added Heidi Swapp Navy Color Shine & my date stamp using CTMH Pacifica Exclusive Ink™.

Here’s a process video showing how all of this came together!

Thanks for stopping by!
