Happy National Scrapbooking Day Weekend! The Cut Shoppe has a few fun challenges happening on the Blog & Instagram. I’m playing along with Challenge #3- Using a Cut File for a Large Title. For my layout today I chose to use the Give a Dog a Bone Cut File.
My photos on the layout were taken the day we adopted our two dogs from a local animal shelter. Our family started with 3 Shih Tzus (Cooper, Bohde & Lucy). Two of our Shih Tzus, Lucy & Bohde, died very suddenly within 3 months of each other due to illnesses they just couldn’t overcome because of their old age. Our dogs are our family and we were absolutely devastated when they passed away.
I follow a couple of the local animal shelters on Facebook and had seen a photo of a pair of liter mates, Liam & Neeson, that were up for adoption. We saw them before Lucy passed away and the timing wasn’t right for us to adopt them. Then they were adopted. We were so happy that they were adopted together because we know how liter mates are bonded (Cooper & Bohde were liter mates). After Lucy passed away I was on Facebook and saw Liam & Neeson again. It turned out that they were returned to the shelter because the owner had received a job promotion and it would require traveling. I contacted the shelter and we went for a visit. Our application was approved the same day, and we ended up bringing Liam & Neeson home the same day as our visit. We kept the name Liam but changed Neeson’s name to Keith. The photos with us are called “Happy Tail” photos and were taken a the shelter. It most definitely was a happy day!
I started my layout with a Patterned Paper from the Pinkfresh Studio | Let Your Heart Decide Collection. I used a wide format printer & added my journaling to the bottom of the layout [Don’t mind the typos! I printed before I proofread the journaling. Lesson learned! HA!] This layout is very journal heavy which isn’t normal for me. I cut my title, from the Give a Dog a Bone Cut File, on white cardstock, black cardstock and another Patterned Paper from the same Pinkfresh Studio Collection. I adhered the patterned paper to the white cardstock and then slightly offset the black cardstock to create a bit of shadowing. I added a subtitle “Liam & Keith” using the Black Alpha Set from the Pinkfresh Studio | Dream On Collection.
For embellishing I added Die Cuts and Cardstock Stickers from the Pinkfresh Studio | Let Your Heart Decide Collection and also a Leatherette Sticker from the Pinkfresh Studio | Dream On Collection. I tried to create a visual triangle with all of the embellishments while keeping the same color scheme going on in each embellishment cluster.
