Hey there friends! I’m so excited to be joining in the Altenew June 2019 Stand-Alone Die New Release blog hop! If you started from the beginning of the hop you would have come from Emily Midgett’s Blog. If you’re just starting here, WELCOME. You can make your way around the entire hop by clicking the link at the bottom of my post.

I started my layout today by cutting the new Color Wheel Die three times using scrap paper. I then positioned those die cuts horizontally on a sheet of white cardstock. I then pulled a few mists from my stash that I thought would blend well together (a couple pinks, oranges and yellows) and started spraying the paper, so I essentially used the Color Wheel Die as a stencil. After I removed the scrap pieces of paper I had this really soft, pretty color on my background.

I then cut the Virginia Rose 3D Die multiple times using similar colors as the mists. I assembled the flowers and was AMAZED at the amount of texture those flowers have after they are put together. I especially love the layers that were cut using textured cardstock.

I arranged the flowers using the tone-on-tone technique with the mists. I almost wanted to stop there! HA! The colors and texture was just so pretty! I decided on a black and white photo so it wouldn’t compete with the colors I had on the layout. The photo is of my two dogs sleeping on the couch. We went from itty bitty Shih Tzus to these very large dog so we affectionately call them the “bigs”, so I used the title “My Bigs” for this layout using the Black Alphas from the Altenew Reflection Scrapbook Collection.

This layout was really easy to put together and it actually took my longer to assemble the flowers than it did the entire layout!

Striking layout and wonderful use of color. Beautiful.
Your layout is so cool: I like how you used it in the negative aspect to leave the white after misting the page. You Virginia Rose die cuts really do steal the show from your “Bigs” dogs! I agree that a black and white photo 📷 was crucial here; it really makes the page complete! Great job!
Love the bright colors behind the photo!
