Hey friends! I’m so excited to be returning for another fun blog hop celebrating Altenew’s November 2019 Stamp/Die/Stencil New Release! If you started the hop from the beginning then you would have come from Jaycee Gaspar’s Blog. If you’ve started here, WELCOME! You can still make your way around the entire blog hop by clicking the link at the bottom of my post.
I created two 12×12 scrapbook layouts using products from this new release. My first layout was inspired by the tiny sentiment “You inspire me to be better” that is part of the new Poppy Garden Stamp Set. I started the layout with a white cardstock background, but I wanted to add a big of color to the background. I grabbed the 6×6 Halftone Stencil and used a couple Distress Oxide Inks to create an orange polka dot background in the center of the layout.
I used Altenew 6×6 Paper Packs [Summer Garden, Essential Rock, Blushing Blooms, Verdant Walk, Pastel Dreams] and the Mix & Match Mariposa [Butterfly] Die Set to create butterflies. I layered the die cut patterned paper butterflies along with vellum and added stitching down the center of the butterflies for added texture. I got a rough idea of where all of the die cuts and photos would be placed, but I ran the white cardstock background through my typewriter before I adhered anything down to the background.
Once the journaling was complete, I started adhering down the Die Cut Embellishments from the Altenew Live Your Dream Scrapbook Collection, a Chipboard Embellishment from the Reflection Scrapbook Collection and I also added my photos. I added the inspiration sentiment from the Poppy Garden Stamp Set to the top of each paragraph of journaling. For final touches I added orange enamel dots and orange splatters around the layout. The edges of the layout looked a bit plain, so I did add a border strip of orange cardstock to add another pop of color.
Now you can take a look at my process video:
My second layout is all about my happy place…my craft room! I used the Sketched Lines Stencil and Altenew’s White Embossing Paste to create a lot of texture on my white cardstock background. I then used a blue distress oxide ink to add a pop of color. I love how the texture paste really pops with the added color!
I then used my Cricut to cut three hexagons on three different patterned papers from the Altenew Reflection Scrapbook Collection. I used one of the hexagons as a template to make my photo the same shape. I used my edge distressor and added machine stitching to all of the hexagons to add more texture. I then positioned all of the hexagons horizontally in the center of the layout.
I used the Wavy Outlines [Floral] Die with a dark denim colored cardstock and a navy patterned paper from the Sweet Moments 6×6 Paper Pack. I added those floral die cuts around the hexagons.
For added embellishing I used Stickers and Wood Epoxy Buttons from the Reflection Scrapbook Collection, Wood Veneer Hearts from the Our Family Collection, and a Chipboard Sticker from the Live Your Dream Scrapbook Collection.
I added my title to one of the hexagons using the Chipboard Alphabet from the Our Family Collection. This layout is pretty monotone, so I wanted to stick with pinks & purples for the layout. I was out of purple p’s, so I used the Seedless Preserves Distress Oxide to a green p to alter the color.

What a tribute to your craft room by creating that layout. Love the 3-D butterflies as they add texture (especially with the stitching) and dimension to the layout.
Beautiful layouts! So creative
You know what I realise from looking at your layouts, that I’ve been very limiting in my thinking of creating stuff. You have shown me that you can die cut out of any paper and still make it look artistic. Thank you very much. I’m sure your children appreciate you too. Sincere
Wonderful layouts, Kelly! Love the awesome designs!
