Confetti Birthday Wishes

I needed a super quick card for my niece’s birthday party today and the current card sketch at the Sketch and Scrap Challenge worked perfectly. I grabbed a scrap piece of lavender cardstock from my stash {unsure of the brand} and cut it to a standard card size. I then grabbed a piece of White Daisy Cardstock and a B&T Duo™ from the Confetti Wishes Paper Packet.

CTMH: Confetti Wishes

I cut a circle in the B&T and added a scrap piece of vellum cut to size. I initially had stamped the Wish sentiment in Thistle Exclusive Ink™, but when I placed the sequins under the vellum it was difficult to see the sentiment….so I needed to change it up. Because all of CTMH stamps are clear polymer, I was able to re-ink the sentiment using Pacifica Pigment Ink, which is available in the Adventure Exclusive Inks™ Mini Pigment Ink Pad Set, and just re-stamp over the initial image. I then heat embossed Clear Embossing Powder over the sentiment. Next I grabbed my Thin 3D Foam Tape and some cheap sequins that I picked up at Wal-Mart. I scattered the sequins on the White Daisy Cardstock, peeled the covering from the foam tape, and stuck the B&T down onto the White Daisy Cardstock.

I also used a couple scraps of my Silver Shimmer Trim and scattered a few sequins around the card for finishing touches. Sequins are a tricky thing…I never quite know when to stop!! Love those little things! This was my first shaker card and one tip I found was not to use the Thin 3D Foam Tape. The sequins are trapped rather than shakeable. I think if I had used regular 3D Foam Tape the B&T would have stood further from the White Daisy Cardstock giving the sequins more room to float around. BUT, I like this look also, it keeps the sequins from being piled at the base of the circle, and it would be great to throw in the mail because the Thin 3D Foam Tape wouldn’t make the envelope too thick.

  2. Hi Kelly, I too thought this sketch lent itself to a shaker card and I love that your sequins are behind stamped vellum, making for a lovely soft sentiment. Thanks for joining us at Sketch N Scrap. I’m sure Lisa or Kelly will be able to sort the linking problem for you. I will check in with them. xx
