Hey there, friends! I’m so excited to be joining in the Altenew May 2019 Stencil Release Blog Hop! If you’ve started from the beginning then you would have come from Isha Gupta’s Blog. If you’re starting here…WELCOME! You’ll still be able to make your way around the entire hop by clicking the link at the bottom of my post. (I’ll also have a complete list of hoppers at the bottom of my post in case you get lost along the way.)
I had a hard time choose which stencil I wanted to use, because all of them are so gorgeous. I ultimately decided on the Illusion Spiral Stencil because I’m a huge fan of sunbursts. I used the Altenew White Embossing Paste and mixed it with a bright yellow acrylic paint. I’ve use this modeling paste on a previous project, but this was the first time I added color to the paste. Normally any color I add becomes really faded when I add color to the other white embossing/modeling pastes that I own, but that didn’t happen with this paste. I was amazed even though I was mixing this bright yellow with white it still held true to color! I will 100% be reaching for this embossing paste when I’m adding color + texture to my layouts!
After I spread the colored Embossing Paste through the Illusion Spiral Stencil I let it dry. I then cut around the border of the embossing paste so I could use this piece similar to a 6×6 piece of paper. I positioned that stenciled piece of paper on another piece of white cardstock. I wanted to add just a little color behind that stenciled piece of paper so I grabbed the Ombre Stripes Stencil to create a slight and subtle pink pattern behind the sunburst.
I then grabbed a few Die Cuts, Chipboard Embellishments and Stickers from the Live Your Dream Scrapbook Collection to embellish the page. I added machine stitching to a few of those pieces for added texture. I really like how the potted plant embellishments fit the theme of my patio photo, because I envision those types of pots to be on a porch. I also tucked in a fussy cut leaf from the Botanical Rhapsody Washi (that I had leftover from a previous project) right next to the pot above the photo. The leaf matched perfectly and looks like it belongs with this Live Your Dream Scrapbook Collection!
Before I adhered anything down to the layout I added journaling using my typewriter. I also added my title using Black Alphas from the Reflection Scrapbook Collection.
